Bill is Chief Operations Officer of New England Clean Energy. Before joining the company, he spent 25 years as a software developer and project lead for large companies including Digital, Siemens, EMC and Compaq, and small businesses with a handful of employees.
Bill has been a closet environmentalist since childhood, when his mother recycled newspapers and re-used grocery bags long before it was the norm. In 2006, he began taking renewable energy classes and plotting a career move. He knew Mark from when they both coached youth soccer in Hudson. In 2007, Bill became Mark’s first partner in New England Clean Energy, overseeing operations and purchasing, where the waste-not-want-not ethic instilled in him by his mother serves the company well. He also mentors our team of local master and apprentice electricians. He is certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) as a Solar PV Installer™—the industry recognized “gold standard”.
Bill is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters degree in Computer Science. In his spare time, Bill does things like convert a Prius hybrid car into a home generator, and mentor FIRST robotics teams at Assabet Valley and Blackstone Regional high schools.
When not building robots or designing renewable energy systems, Bill enjoys time with his wife, Fiona, his daughter Rachel, and his five Welsh Corgis. He lives in Hudson.
