Solarize Massachusetts

New England Clean Energy participated in the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s (CEC) 2011 Solarize Massachusetts pilot program by serving as the installer for the town of Harvard. In 2012, we were the installer for the towns of Acton and Shirley.

Harvard achieved the best result of the four towns in the pilot, due to the strong partnership between the town, the CEC, and New England Clean Energy. Together, our education, outreach, and technical work resulted in solar arrays on more than 70 homes, adding approximately 400 kilowatts of pollution-free power to the grid. This tremendous response confirms our belief that people will embrace clean energy if given a cost-effective option.

The Shirley and Acton Solarize programs resulted in 50 residential and commercial solar electric and hot water systems being installed, which are expected to generate about 260,000 kilowatt-hours of clean power each year, saving the owners a total of about $43,000 a year on their electric bills.
