Since 2014, soon after Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester started its Operation Playhouse program, New England Clean Energy and Canadian Solar (NASDAQ: CSIQ) have been donating mini-solar energy systems for installation on these playhouses. So we take a personal interest in watching the program grow and succeed. But, we’d never managed to actually build a playhouse ourselves, until a few weeks ago.

Operation Playhouse is a team-building, community service program that helps Habitat and local veterans. Companies sponsor the construction of a playhouse and employees spend a day building, painting and decorating it. At the end of the day, the playhouse is presented to a military veteran and his or her family.

Our mermaid-themed playhouse was donated to U.S. Army veteran Mike Espinosa from Framingham and his 6-year-old daughter.  As we expected, watching Liliana explore the playhouse was the highlight of the day. And the rest was pretty fun, too, as shown in this video we created.
