Location: Sudbury, Massachusetts

Watts: 7,194

Monthly Production: 622 kWh

This solar energy system produces more than the owners need some months, and less in other months. The “credits” from their extra production are applied to the months whey they make less than they use, through the Mass. “Net Metering” program.

The system has 22 SunPower 327-watt panels installed on the standing-seam metal roof. The economics, as for most solar energy systems, are impressive:

  • 9% Average Annual Return
  • More than 200% return over 25 years
  • System pays for itself in under 8 years
  • Electricity price dropped from 20 cents per kWh to just 7 cents
  • Estimated SREC income of $16,500 (over 10 years)
  • Estimated electricity savings of $52,000 (over 25 years)
