Doug McCartney, Chief Executive Officer
Doug has 20+ years of experience in the management of new and emerging companies. Before joining New England Clean Energy, Doug ran his own sales and marketing consultancy, Licitus Group. He has served as Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing at Two Step Software, COO at Hypotheticals.com, Vice President of Business Development at Adaytum Software, and Vice President of Marketing and International Operations at Pilot Software. After a career focused on software, he welcomed the switch to solar, which he calls “the next great technology”. He has an MBA from Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colby College. Doug lives in Sudbury, MA with his wife, dog and, occasionally, his two older children. He is an avid skier and cyclist.
Evan Vana, Chief Operating Officer
Evan oversees our operations including installations, crews and supply chain. Evan joined us in 2017 after 12 years in related fields including supply chain, shipping, warehousing, manufacturing, fulfillment, and systems. He is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP from APICS) whose career encompasses large and small consumer brands including Burton Snowboards, The Vermont Teddy Bear Company, PajamaGram, LightWedge, and Force Factor. Evan earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Vermont, and holds CSCP and SCOR-P certifications from APICS. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Boston APICS Chapter, a non-profit Supply Chain professional organization. Originally from Northern Vermont and a graduate of the University of Vermont, Evan now lives in Maynard, MA. He enjoys snowboarding, golfing, boating, and spending time with his wife and their dog.
Roy Van Cleef, Residential Sales Manager
Roy came on board for Solarize Harvard and stayed due to our continued growth. Roy grew up in South Africa and first came to the U.S. as an exchange student at the University of Oregon from Aberdeen University in Scotland. A zoology degree led to his passion for renewable energy and conservation, as his focus on wildlife and biology led to concern about the damage being inflicted on the planet by fossil fuels. After university, he was a competitive cyclist for several years. He moved to Massachusetts in 2004, meeting up with Clean Energy when we installed solar electric and hot water systems on his home in Harvard, MA, where he lives with his wife and three children. When he’s not talking to customers about solar energy, running marathons or taking care of his kids, Roy can often be found rock climbing and, yes, occasionally bicycling.
Rob Raymond, Solar Sales Consultant
Rob came to the solar world in 2015 after a brief stint at a private equity firm. As an international relations major at Connecticut College, with minors in history and economics, he found himself gravitating to the environmental economics and environmental justice courses. So, joining New England Clean Energy to help get more solar into the world was more in line with his values than high finance. And, solar keeps him outside, which is his favorite place to be. “Super passionate” about the outdoors, Rob loves hiking, rock climbing, bicycling, running, swimming – anything with movement, basically. He lives in Dover, MA.
Ben Fitzer, Solar Sales Consultant
Ben is elated to help protect the environment by getting more renewable energy into the world. His background in construction and customer service made his 2016 transition to Solar Sales Consultant at New England Clean Energy an easy one. After earning a bachelor’s degree in building construction technology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he honed his skills in the home improvement, project management, construction staffing and customer service areas through jobs at Ferguson Plumbing Supply Corporation and Phoenix Construction Resources. An Acton, MA native, Ben lives in Maynard, MA now. He indulges his love of the outdoors through skiing, biking, swimming, hiking, fishing, and other sports.
Todd Monjar, Solar Sales Consultant
Todd joined New England Clean Energy in early 2017 after time with Got Sun Go Solar. He has 20+ years of experience in the high tech industry and found a sweet spot in renewable energy that combines his sales background with his passion for our environment. Todd is convinced that we are in the midst of an unstoppable revolution to change the way we care for our earth and that solar energy is a major factor in that change. Todd has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from Emerson College. Originally from Bradford, PA (home of the Zippo lighter), he moved to New England in 1985. He now lives in Providence, R.I. He loves the outdoors with a special attraction to the ocean. He is a photographer, an artist and oh yeah, he rides a bike too.
Stephanie Trevisone, Commercial Solar Sales Consultant
Stephanie is thrilled to be helping protect the environment by getting more renewable energy into the world. She joined New England Clean Energy as a Solar Sales Consultant in 2017. She focuses on commercial customers but also helps out with residential on occasion. The transition to solar was easy due to her previous jobs in customer relations, consulting (automotive management), project management, and finance. Stephanie attended the University of New Hampshire. A Boston, MA native, she lives in Belmont, MA. She indulges her love of the outdoors through biking, swimming, hiking with her dog, and other sports.
Amy Olaes, Solar Advisor
Amy Olaes, Solar Advisor, brought her 20 years of customer service and marketing experience to New England Clean Energy in 2017. Amy has a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurial studies from Endicott College. She has worked in the Marketing and Customer Service departments of John Hancock, Ingersoll Rand, Parker Hannifin, and the trade show company Market Perspectives. She has been heavily involved in the Worcester Public School system, volunteering for the PTO, PTA president, and library coordinator for two elementary book programs. She spent 10 years as a Special Education Parent volunteer liaison for Worcester Public Schools. She lives in Worcester, MA, with her husband, two teenagers and two dogs.
Rick Lamothe, Operations Manager
Rick joined New England Clean Energy in 2014 as a Solar Sales Consultant. In 2017, he moved into the Operations Manager position. Rick’s responsibilities include project scheduling and execution, inventory control and commercial project management. His extensive energy background includes jobs at Energy Monster, SolarCity, Higgins Energy Alternatives, and Environmental Health & Engineering. He is certified by the Building Performance Institute as a Building Analyst, and has a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He lives in Northborough, MA, with his wife and dog, and enjoys the great outdoors through hiking, kayaking, etc.
Kevin Gebo, Solar Engineer
Kevin likes to design things and solve problems, so solar is a perfect fit for him. After earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a master’s in sustainable engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, he landed at an international energy firm, conducting energy assessments of commercial buildings. But he felt he could make more of an impact working directly with individuals looking to better their lives and the world through renewable energy, so he joined New England Clean Energy in 2015. Kevin loves sharing his knowledge, skills, and passion for technology and solar energy with customers and colleagues. When he’s not doing that, he designs items for his 3-D printer, builds things, and brews beer. He grew up in Berlin and now lives in Lancaster, MA.
Tracy Cournoyer, Senior Project Lead
Tracy joined New England Clean Energy in 2013 as an Administrative Assistant to help with billing and front office work. She was promoted in 2014 to Sales Administration and then in 2017 to Senior Project Lead, to make even better use of her talents. Previously, she worked as office manager at a mortgage consulting company. She has an associate’s degree in business administration from Quinsigamond Community College. Tracy enjoys watching her three children play soccer and hockey. And, she even picks up a stick or kicks a ball around herself in her spare time. She lives in Spencer, MA.
Jessica Lafave, Project Lead
Jessica’s duties include permit and engineering procurement, solar system technical support, solar service inquiries and RMA coordination, among other things. Her previous work experience includes a position in Asset Management at another solar company. Jess joined us in 2016. She has a bachelor’s degree in geography with a focus on global and environmental studies from Framingham State University. She is very passionate about sustainable living, so she loves working at Clean Energy. Jess also volunteers for organizations that help people and the environment. She currently volunteers as a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. She loves to spend her free time with her husband and 4-year-old daughter. They live in Uxbridge, MA.
Jim Reinhardt, Inspections Coordinator
Jim Reinhardt joined our team as Inspections Coordinator in 2016. He has been in the solar industry since 2011, working on installations and standing for inspections. Jim previously worked at NRG. He has both Master Electrician and Journeyman Electrician licenses. A U.S. Army veteran, Jim enjoys serving as assistant scout master for his son’s Boy Scout troop. He lives with his wife and son in Grafton, MA.
Zack DeGuzman, Site Assessor
Zack is incredibly proud to be working to build a future powered by renewable energy. He discovered a passion for solar through several internships in renewables during college, and was drawn by the enormous potential for the technology to make serious progress toward a sustainable energy system. He joined the team at New England Clean Energy after graduating from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, with a degree in building and construction technology. Zack lives in Stoneham, MA, where he teaches and practices martial arts, plays guitar, and plans his next adventures abroad.
Susan Boucher, Marketing Director
Susan has 30 years of experience at Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, non-profit organizations, and PR agencies. Before joining New England Clean Energy, she ran her own consulting firm. From 1994 to 2003, she worked at National Grid, including time as VP of Corporate Communications, and overseeing communications, government affairs and environmental affairs for the global parent, National Grid Group in London. She has worked at two Boston PR firms, and non-profits including Veterans, Inc. in Worcester, the USS Constitution Museum, and the Franklin Park Zoo. Sue has a bachelor’s degree in English from Cornell University. She lives in Berlin with her boyfriend, two girls and their dog and cat.
Kim Herron, Marketing Coordinator
Kim has more than 16 years of marketing experience. Previously, she was Marketing Director of AMI Leasing in Worcester, where she oversaw activities including marketing materials, telemarketing, customer relations and events, trade shows, public relations, and advertising. During a “break” from work to stay home and raise a family, she was involved with the Boylston Education Foundation, Boylston Playground Committee, and the Boylston Baseball and Softball board of directors, which she retired from after 10 years. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She lives in Boylston, MA, with her husband and two daughters.
Finance & Administration
Carmel Cowan, Office Manager
Carmel’s responsibilities include Human Resources, corporate insurance, and office management. Previously, she was employed with Apogee Information Systems as office manager, Raytheon Company as publications coordinator, and McDonnell Douglas Aerospace (now known as Boeing) as a proposal and graphics coordinator. She is a member of the West Boylston Arts Foundation and the Arts Alliance; for the latter, she has served as president and on the board of directors. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from the State University of New York – Plattsburgh. In her spare time, she likes to read, do crossword puzzles, travel, follow her favorite baseball, football and soccer teams, and spend time with her husband and two daughters. She lives in West Boylston, MA.
Stephanie Purretta, Assistant Office Manager
Stephanie, who joined our team in 2016, wears many hats at New England Clean Energy. On any given day you can find her answering phones, entering payroll or helping with accounting. Stephanie loves expanding her knowledge of the solar business and is excited to be a part of the renewable energy revolution. In the past, Stephanie held a similar position at Advantage Enterprises Inc. She grew up in Hudson, MA, and graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with an associate’s degree in web development. When she’s not at work, Stephanie enjoys reading, camping, watching the Patriots, catching up on her favorite TV shows, and spending time with friends and family. She lives in Marlborough, MA, with her husband and cat.
