Doug McCartney, Chief Executive Officer
Doug has 20+ years of experience in the management of new and emerging companies. Before joining New England Clean Energy, Doug ran his own sales and marketing consultancy, Licitus Group. He has served as Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing at Two Step Software, COO at Hypotheticals.com, Vice President of Business Development at Adaytum Software, and Vice President of Marketing and International Operations at Pilot Software. After a career focused on software, he welcomed the switch to solar, which he calls “the next great technology”. He has an MBA from Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colby College. Doug lives in Sudbury, MA with his wife, dog and, occasionally, his two older children. He is an avid skier and cyclist.
Evan Vana, Chief Operating Officer
Evan oversees our operations including installations, crews and supply chain. Evan joined us in 2017 after 12 years in related fields including supply chain, shipping, warehousing, manufacturing, fulfillment, and systems. He is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP from APICS) whose career encompasses large and small consumer brands including Burton Snowboards, The Vermont Teddy Bear Company, PajamaGram, LightWedge, and Force Factor. Evan earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Vermont, and holds CSCP and SCOR-P certifications from APICS. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Boston APICS Chapter, a non-profit Supply Chain professional organization. Originally from Northern Vermont and a graduate of the University of Vermont, Evan now lives in Maynard, MA. He enjoys snowboarding, golfing, boating, and spending time with his wife and daughter and their dog.
Roy Van Cleef, Residential Sales Manager
Roy came on board for Solarize Harvard and stayed due to our continued growth. Roy grew up in South Africa and first came to the U.S. as an exchange student at the University of Oregon from Aberdeen University in Scotland. A zoology degree led to his passion for renewable energy and conservation, as his focus on wildlife and biology led to concern about the damage being inflicted on the planet by fossil fuels. After university, he was a competitive cyclist for several years. He moved to Massachusetts in 2004, meeting up with Clean Energy when we installed solar electric and hot water systems on his home in Harvard, MA, where he lives with his wife and three children. Roy is certified as a PV Technical Sales Professional by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). When he’s not talking to customers about solar energy, running marathons or taking care of his kids, Roy can often be found rock climbing and, yes, occasionally bicycling.
Rob Raymond, Solar Sales Consultant
Rob came to the solar world in 2015 after a brief stint at a private equity firm. As an international relations major at Connecticut College, with minors in history and economics, he found himself gravitating to the environmental economics and environmental justice courses. So, joining New England Clean Energy to help get more solar into the world was more in line with his values than high finance. And, solar keeps him outside, which is his favorite place to be. “Super passionate” about the outdoors, Rob loves hiking, rock climbing, bicycling, running, swimming – anything with movement, basically. He is a NABCEP-certified PV Technical Sales Professional. He lives in Dover, MA.
Todd Monjar, Solar Sales Consultant
Todd joined New England Clean Energy in early 2017 after time with Got Sun Go Solar. He has 20+ years of experience in the high tech industry and found a sweet spot in renewable energy that combines his sales background with his passion for our environment. Todd is convinced that we are in the midst of an unstoppable revolution to change the way we care for our earth and that solar energy is a major factor in that change. Todd has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from Emerson College. Originally from Bradford, PA (home of the Zippo lighter), he moved to New England in 1985. He now lives in Pawtucket, R.I. He loves the outdoors with a special attraction to the ocean. He is a photographer, an artist and oh yeah, he rides a bike too.
Carly Anderson, Solar Sales Consultant
Carly is a recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. She previously worked for Callaway Golf Ball Operations ensuring that all employees were practicing safe and sustainable procedures. We are excited to put her passion for renewable energy and environmental conservation to work helping people go solar. Carly enjoys playing soccer, painting and other forms of art, and taking her dog for runs. She lives in Sutton, MA.
Jeff Bessom, Project Development Director
Jeff brings more than eight years of commercial and residential solar sales experience to New England Clean Energy. His consultative sales approach is a perfect fit for us, and he is thrilled to be channeling his passion for renewable energy into helping businesses and homeowners save with solar. Prior to entering the solar industry, Jeff had a 20-year career in high-tech, where he managed sales and channel sales programs for a number of software companies. In his spare time, Jeff likes to golf, scuba, kayak, cook, and fire up the grill! He lives in Leominster, MA.
Amy Olaes, Solar Advisor
Amy Olaes, Solar Advisor, brought her 20 years of customer service and marketing experience to New England Clean Energy in 2017. Amy has a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurial studies from Endicott College. She has worked in the Marketing and Customer Service departments of John Hancock, Ingersoll Rand, Parker Hannifin, and the trade show company Market Perspectives. She has been heavily involved in the Worcester Public School system, volunteering for the PTO, PTA president, and library coordinator for two elementary book programs. She spent 10 years as a Special Education Parent volunteer liaison for Worcester Public Schools. She lives in Worcester, MA, with her husband, two teenagers and two dogs.
Rick Lamothe, Operations Manager
Rick joined New England Clean Energy in 2014 as a Solar Sales Consultant. In 2017, he moved into the Operations Manager position. Rick’s responsibilities include project scheduling and execution, inventory control and commercial project management. His extensive energy background includes jobs at Energy Monster, SolarCity, Higgins Energy Alternatives, and Environmental Health & Engineering. He is certified by the Building Performance Institute as a Building Analyst, and has a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He lives in Northborough, MA, with his wife and dog, and enjoys the great outdoors through hiking, kayaking, etc.
Jim Reinhardt, Inspections Coordinator
Jim Reinhardt is New England Clean Energy’s Master Electrician and Inspections Coordinator. He has both Master Electrician and Journeyman Electrician licenses, and has been in the solar industry since 2011, working on installations and standing for inspections. Jim previously worked at NRG where he was Master Electrician for four years. A U.S. Army veteran, Jim enjoys serving as assistant scout master for his son’s Boy Scout troop. He lives with his wife and son in Grafton, MA.
Andrew Gorham, Solar Designer
Andrew came to New England Clean Energy after graduating from Clark University with a bachelor’s degree and an accelerated master’s degree in communications. After learning the ropes on the installation crew, he switched to Solar Designer where his job includes 3D modeling of solar energy systems and roof assessments. He loves working at a company that is making a difference in the world. In his spare time, Andrew skateboards, surfs and snowboards. Originally from South Kingston, RI, he lives in Worcester, MA, now.
Evgenia Petrova, Digital Marketing
Evgenia has 20 years of global marketing and sales experience in the retail, telecom and energy sectors. After moving from Ukraine to the U.S. in 2015, she worked at a digital marketing agency before joining us in 2017. Prior to her move, she was marketing director of downstream business at Royal Dutch Shell for eight years. Evgenia has a master’s degree in business administration from Ukrainian National University of Economics, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Taras Shevchecnko National University of Ukraine. She lives in Stow, MA with her husband, daughter and father. She is a proud volunteer with her daughter’s Girl Scout troop.
Finance & Administration
Carmel Cowan, Office Manager
Carmel joined New England Clean Energy in 2008 to run the office of what was then a small start-up. Ten years later her, she is the Director of Human Resources with responsibility for staffing, corporate information, benefits, insurance and payroll. Previously, she was employed with Apogee Information Systems as office manager, Raytheon Company as publications coordinator, and McDonnell Douglas Aerospace (now known as Boeing) as a proposal and graphics coordinator. She is a member of the West Boylston Arts Foundation and the Arts Alliance; for the latter, she has served as president and on the board of directors. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from the State University of New York – Plattsburgh. In her spare time, she likes to read, do crossword puzzles, travel (especially to Disney), follow her favorite baseball, football and soccer teams, and spend time with her husband and two daughters and their families. She lives in West Boylston, MA.
Stephanie Purretta, Assistant Office Manager
Stephanie, who joined our team in 2016, wears many hats at New England Clean Energy. On any given day you can find her answering phones, fielding customer inquiries, or helping with accounting. Stephanie loves expanding her knowledge of the solar business and is excited to be a part of the renewable energy revolution. In the past, Stephanie held a similar position at Advantage Enterprises Inc. She grew up in Hudson, MA, and graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with an associate’s degree in web development. When she’s not at work, Stephanie enjoys reading, camping, watching the Patriots, catching up on her favorite TV shows, and spending time with friends and family. She lives in Marlborough, MA, with her husband, son and cat.
