Warranties

Q. What is Clean Energy’s Installation Warranty?

A. Our newer installations come with a 10- or 20-Year Workmanship Warranty including roof leak protection, one of the best in the industry. Damage resulting from our work on your property is covered. (Thankfully, this is extremely rare, but mistakes do happen.) Our warranty cannot cover weather-related damage, or damage caused by homeowners (or their friends and neighbors!) such as a baseball cracking a panel. Please note: Work done on your system by you or by anyone not authorized by New England Clean Energy will void your warranty. Please contact us if you need panels moved or electrical work done around the solar electric system.

Q. What is Clean Energy’s Performance Warranty?

A. Most of our newer customers benefit from our industry-leading Performance Warranty, now available for 10 or 20 years. This warranty essentially guarantees you will get the system production, and related financial benefits, that we promised in your agreement. Once a year, we check your system’s performance. If all is good, you’ll hear nothing or, if we have a little time, you’ll get a nice note from us saying all is good. If your system produced less than we promised, we will send you a check for the value of the electricity savings and the green income that you lost. (“Green income” means SRECs in MA, REG in RI, and RECs in NH.)

Note that we still encourage you to monitor your system’s performance yourself on occasion, and to make sure it’s still connected to the Internet. We cannot monitor your system’s performance if it is offline. And your Performance Warranty is void for any time the system is offline. If we can’t monitor it, we can’t guarantee it.

Q. What if I need to replace my roof?

A. Contact us at service@newenglandcleanenergy.com and we will remove your solar energy system, store it, and re-install it. Newer customers have a locked-in price for this service under our 20 Year New Roof Guarantee.

Q. What are the warranties for the pieces of the system?

A. Click on the links below to see the warranty documents for some of the equipment we sell today/have sold recently. If you’re not sure which equipment you have, refer to the Statement of Work in your Customer Agreement. Also, your Agreement confirms which warranties you have (from Clean Energy and the equipment manufacturers), as the warranties have changed, and will no doubt continue to change, over the years.
