The sun is working again in Lunenburg!
More than a year ago, Unitil stopped interconnecting solar energy systems to the grid citing safety reasons caused by equipment that couldn’t handle additional solar-generated power. That put a lot of solar energy installations on hold.
In February 2016, a Fitchburg Sentinel & Enterprise article reported the good news that “Unitil has agreed to fund grid improvements needed for more solar in the town with it being ready by the end of the year.”
Now, we understand that Unitil has begun work on the project and estimates construction will be complete in the fall. At that time, they’ll be accepting solar interconnection applications again, in the order they were received.
