13 Cents vs. 3 Cents

August 24, 2017

The Taunton municipal light department has decent rates for Massachusetts — about 13 cents per kWh. But wouldn’t you rather pay 3 cents? That’s what this homeowner is paying per kWh, locked in for 25 years, thanks to his solar energy system. Let’s see…pay the utility 13 cents…or pay yourself 3 cents…which would you do? […]

Solar and Skylights

August 24, 2017

Some people close up their skylights to make room for solar, but that wasn’t necessary in this case. We had plenty of roof space to work with, to accommodate these 18 SunPower panels. The panels are black-on-black, meaning no white backsheet, so they blend into the roof seamlessly.

A Peaceful Picture

August 24, 2017

We prefer sunny blue sky as the backdrop for photos of the systems we’ve installed, but there’s something kind of peaceful about this hazy white sky. It certainly offsets the 30-panels of this solar energy system nicely as they frame the dormer on this Concord, MA roof.

Solar Upgrade

August 24, 2017

This homeowner had 24 solar hot water panels on his roof from years ago. We took those down, he replaced his roof, and we installed this beautiful 39-panel solar electric system. It produces about 97% of his electricity which, over 20 years, amounts to about $29,700 worth of clean energy, which is substantially more than […]

Clean Energy Cares

August 24, 2017

New England Clean Energy crews care as much about how your solar looks as you do — and not just on the roof, but the related equipment in your basement and on the outside of your house. (In the second photo, our inverter and wiring is on the left side.) Just because no one looks […]

Substantially Cleaner

August 24, 2017

We all know what big polluters automobiles are. This homeowner’s clean energy system is reducing fossil-fuel emissions equivalent to taking almost 2 cars off the road. That’s substantial! We don’t want to speak for Mother Earth, but we’re pretty sure she’s saying ‘thank you’.

Gettin’ Good Solar

August 24, 2017

This relatively small solar electric system — 20 panels and 5,200 watts — still earned more than $8,000 in federal and state tax credits. Get your government tax credits while the gettin’ is good. 🙂

Multi-Material, Multi-Roof

August 24, 2017

When’s the last time Uncle Sam gave you $16,000? And for doing something good for the planet, never mind your pocketbook? That’s about the size of this customer’s federal “Investment Tax Credit’ — a perk for going solar. This interesting layout on the classic rambling New England farmhouse has 18 solar panels on the asphalt-shingled […]

East Beats West

August 24, 2017

California may have more solar energy systems than New England (it is a lot bigger, after all!), but according to this New England Clean Energy customer, East beats West when it comes to customer service and installation quality! The happy customer posted this on Solar Reviews: “We had a solar system in California before we […]

Solar in a Muni Town

August 24, 2017

The higher the rate you pay your local electric company today, the greater value solar can bring you. But even in Boxborough, where a municipal light department offers one of the state’s lowest rates at about 10 cents per kWh, solar still makes sense. This homeowner effectively cut her kWh rate from 10 cents to […]
