Sometimes solar design is simple. Sometimes it’s like assembling a jigsaw puzzle, trying to get the different pieces to fit together the right way. These homeowners were committed to covering 100% of their electric bill, so we kept at it until we found a way to do that.
The resulting system on 4 roof faces is a little hard to envision so we’ve included the schematic drawing. The first photo shows the 2 northwest-facing roofs. The second photo is a close-up of the smaller northwest-facing roof. The third is a birds-eye view of the 2 sides of the smaller roof. And the fourth shows the large, nearly flat southeast-facing roof.
If “northwest” caught your attention, you’re right, we don’t usually install solar panels on roofs facing that direction. But, this Gambrel roof is so low-pitched that those panels will capture considerable sunlight.
The homeowner is as pleased as we are with the final result. Read his very thorough review here, or enjoy these excerpts:
“In addition to Clean Energy we spoke to three other solar installers, all highly recommended and well-rated. From the pre-sales experience Clean Energy rose way above the others immediately. We hate pushy sales people, and the solar industry is notorious for taking that tactic. Clean Energy was the opposite, very laid-back and great at listening to our concerns, our goals, our vision for the project….Of the companies we spoke to Clean Energy was by far the most knowledgeable, flexible and easiest to work with….The end result is gorgeous and we are over the moon happy with how it turned out….Clean Energy was a little higher than the others, but in the grand scheme of things, for the value of service provided it was totally worth it.”
