Save The Planet, Install Panels
Susanna of Lincoln, MA: Solar Electric
“Installing solar panels in our house in Lincoln, we were environmentally focused first and foremost, we did not install solar for the financial benefits. I thought of solar similar to buying a car. They are relatively the same price, and everyone invests in a car to support their lifestyle. Solar was our investment of choice.“
Susanna Szeto and her husband from Lincoln, MA have been passionate environmentalists for decades. They decided to install solar in their home after being inspired by a neighbor who had just installed a beautiful system nearby. Despite the financial perks, Susanna was motivated by her drive to be good to the environment. In her interview, she said “I was mainly interested in the environmental aspects. Saving the world, doing my part, using natural resources. We were environmentally focused first and foremost, we did not install solar for the financial benefits. I thought of solar similar to buying a car. They are relatively the same price, and everyone invests in a car to support their lifestyle. Solar was our investment of choice”.
Susanna’s family is not new to solar by any means. They have been using solar long before their solar panel installation when they installed a hot water system back in the 70s. Laundry is for sunny days only, says Susanna! They got more interested in solar electric power when their neighbor had panels installed on his home by New England Clean Energy. The neighbor had been renovating his house to make a green impact, so Susanna said “he must know what he is talking about”. Susanna had spoken with a few other companies but felt pressured by their intense sales tactics. “New England Clean Energy gave us the facts and supported our passion to be good to the world,” said Susanna.
When asked about the solar panel installation process in Lincoln, Susanna replied by saying it was a “worry-free” experience. She expressed her hope that as solar becomes more popular, it will be cheaper and more easily accessible to a wider range of people. She acknowledged that while her family was not concerned about the look of the panels, she is aware that many households are. When commenting on her installation she stated “I really do think it looks great”.
Susanna ended the interview by giving some advice to potential solar panel installation customers. She stated “Find a good company that is honest and trustworthy. Make sure their numbers are correct and reasonable. They should be willing to install a customized system”.
We would like to give our sincere thanks to Susanna for participating in this interview and expressing her passion for solar and the environment. It was a pleasure to be your family’s choice installer!
